Coronavirus: With 45,720 new cases, India's tally rises to 12,38,635

India's coronavirus case tally has crossed 12 lakh-mark with the highest single-day spike of 45,720 new cases and 1,129 deaths in the last 24 hours, as of Thursday morning. Likewise, India reported 29,557 COVID-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the highest recoveries in a single day so far. The total number of coronavirus positive cases has increased to 12,38,635 out of which 4,26,167 are active cases, 7,82,606 have been cured and discharged while 29,861 died due to the pandemic, the Health Ministry stated on Thursday. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated that the total number of COVID-19 samples tested up to July 22 is 1,50,75,369 out of which 3,50,823 samples were tested on Thursday. On Wednesday, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that the Delhi government has decided to conduct serosurveys every month to formulate policies for tackling Covid-19 in the national capital. Amid the race for a vaccine against coronavirus, a World Health Organization (WHO) expert said that researchers are making progress but their first use cannot be expected until early 2021. The total number of cases across the globe stands at 15,380,131 out of which 630,343 have died and 9,355,528 have been cured and discharged. -PTC News
