Punjab: 3 of family die as tractor-trailer overturns on car in Jalandhar; watch video
Jalandhar, September 13: Three persons of a family, including a child, were killed when a tractor-trailer overturned at Mahilpur Chowk on the Banga-Phagwara National Highway here on Tuesday. The video of the accident has also gone viral on social media.
The incident took place when the tractor-trailer loaded with sand and gravel overturned while taking a U-turn. Two cars coming from the opposite direction collided into it while one got buried under the tractor-trailer. Three of a family were crushed under the tractor-trailer while three occupants of another car sustained injuries.
A JCB was called as the car was badly crushed under the tractor-trailer. It took around two hours to retrieve the bodies. The entire incident was captured in CCTV cameras installed on the highway. Tractor-trailer driver Major Singh fled the scene after the accident.

As per reports, the victims were on their way to Garhshankar from Batala. The police are conducting raids to arrest the driver.
The injured are Manjinder Singh, Sukhwinder Kaur and her son Paramjit Singh. The bodies of the victims have been kept in the mortuary of Guru Nanak Mission Hospital.
